Please help..

Im not sure if this goes in this section, feel free to move it. Well i have a '04 Civic coupe 5 speed and im wondering how to install a aftermarket HU. I read all the DIY's on this site and there was only 2, one for a 2k1 civic(way different) and a 2k4 Automatic. I tired following the automatic DIY but i cant get past the first past, cause in the auto one it shows them taking of center console off from the shifter, well our shifter has a boot and it wont let me take it off so i cant get to the screws to start the process. If anyone has a DIY for 5 speed 2k4 civics please help me, i have the amp and subs but i just cant install the HU, its very annoying. Thanks in advance.

The DIY is essentialy the same as for the automatic. Only difference is the first step. First pull down on the little silver ring under the shift ****. Then unscrew the shift ****. Next grab the front and back of the bigger silver ring and pull up. After you pop out that piece the rest of the diy should be the same.

I wouldn't pull the silver trim ring around the shift boot. It has 3 or 4 screws in it. Once you remove the shift **** you should be able to maneuver it out of there. Pull up on the slack in the boot and it should come off over the shifter. This DIY is for a 2K1, but the idea is the same and once you get the work around the front of it done (which I think there is a screw or two that isn't there in the 01 if I'm not mistaken) it's identical.

Does your console look like this? If so, open the cup holder door and pull on the rectangular plastic surounding the shifter (it's only held be clips).
