nOOb question on DVC...

nOOb question on DVC...
So i have a sub with a DVC but i'm wiring it up to only 1 VC. Does the DVC only draw more power or does it actually effect the sound quality of the sub. I wanna know because i want to use my subs to their fullest potential. BTW i have 2 alpine type r subs, the older 300wrms version.
