Amp overhating probs

I dont have much time to search- my problem is that my two Alpine amps (1x1000W RMS & 4x75W RMS) keep overheating and shutting off as a safety feature.

Some people install fans to remedy this but i was wondering if there was an alternative method of maintaining proper temp with my amps without having to bring the gain down so much.

Suggestions made to me were
1. get another battery
2. get a better alternator
3. get better wires going to the speakers

People who made these suggestions told me that they would lessen the strain on the amps when trying to get the energy they need therefore keeping the temp down.

Do any of these sound logical? thx

What type of system do you have set up? What do you have your amps and head unit settings tuned at?

Heat is caused by resistance. Resistance is usually caused by clipping. Before we consider lack of power, we should consider what type of system you have and how you have it set up.

I am running Jl 1000/1 and JL 300/4 in my car and i live in florida with no problems.. check you ohm setting.. It might cause it to over heat due to going too low.

somethings not right set or hooked up right. Now I have an alpine amp (4channel) and it used to get hot with my old pioneer deck (6.5v), now with my new alpine deck (2v) it doesn't even get warm. So maybe something with the amp settings like gain being too high or something?

Yeah check to see how your subs are connected to make sure the load on the amp is not too much for the amps. If the ohms are lower than what the amp can handle, when you turn up the volume, there is too much current passing threw your amp wich makes it heat up and make it go in to protection and can blow your fuses on the amp.

I have an alpine V12, when it was hooked up to 2 infiniti subs it used to heat up and turn off, but I haven't had a problem ever since I took one sub out.

The newer alpine deck the 9834 i think it is (not near my car right now)

Two 12" type s alpine subs
V12 75x4 amp
V12 1000x1 amp
Infinity kappa 100w RMS speakers for the back
JL audio 60W RMS in the front (ones in the orange box)

These were all professionally installed by boomer mcloud and the ohm reading is fine on the amps and everything.

They did all the tests and stuff to make sure it works right, they told me this happens in hot weather and sometimes you just have to turn the gain down but that putting better wiring in there for the speakers might help.

upgrading speaker wires is silly because the ones coming from the speaker already matches the factory size.

I put a fan across some of the fins on my amp. put the pos wire from the fan right on the remote post on the amp, so then the head unit turns the amp on, the fan comes on too. Works really well, I can pound my system all day long and the amp'll still be cool to the touch.

Although this may have worked for pr0vidence, I would not recommend it. The remote terminal from the headunit is only rated for a small amount of current draw. If the current draw (from the fan + amp) excedes the max rating... there goes your HU. Now granted, the current draw might not be that much, but what is a short occurs? If you decide to use a fan, use a relay like a Bosch SPDT. This way the remote terminal only has to switch on the relay ~160mA current draw and you can power the fan using and extra slot on a power distribution block or from the amplifier's (+) terminal. Plus, always use fuses.
