tinsel break!!!!!!!
hey guys, i've had this happen on 2 subs, i have a infinity reference svc and a kicker dvc and on both sub, a tinsel has broke ( the wire that goes from the connector on the fram to the actual cone, i've tried fixing it with solder wick cuz it's more flexible but no matter what i do they keep breaking, the kicker keeps working cuz one of the voice coils still has a good connection. so anyone have any idea why this keeps happening or how to fix it?

i tried that and i think it's the friction from the cone moving so fast and it breaks at the solder, i've tried short (not too short to restrict the cone) i've tried long (not to long to short though) i think the problem is that the actual solder joint cant take the speed that the cone moves, gets to hot and breaks
maybe its the soldier your using or your not soldiering it properly.
i had that problem with my inhuman 15, one of the 8 leads broke, and the guy who bought it off me fixed it too cuz he's really good at soldiering.

i'm really good at soldering too, i think it's the fact that i'm not using tinsel wire, i'm using solder wick, anyone have any ideas where to buy tinsel wire? I'm also curious/furious as to why this keeps happening to me
Dude, what size/type amp are you running these on, cuz it is possible that your giving it too much power. Although you may have already checked this, make sure that the RMS os the sub is in the mid to upper range of the rms on the amp. Also, make sure that you have a low pass filter on. If the sub vibrates at exremely fast rates, such as at higher frequencies like 5,000 htz, it is possible that the tinsel cannot stand the fast vibrations. That was just a thought, and i'm sure you've already checked this, but I'm just trying to think of why it would do this. My friends have infinities and kickers, but only the infinities blew. But then again that could be because he had a 2000 watt competition amp [B]bridged to a pair of them![B] now he only has two Kicker L7 12"s hooked up to a 3000 watt competition amp: it is sickly loud!
