i wanted to get a sound system but my brother says its a bad idea because all im doing is giving some theif a reason to break my window and steal what they can for example the head unit gives it away even if i remove the face plate, i didnt want to go all out for a system but i still want something that bumps, any suggestions on what i should do? appreciate thx

That's the risk you take will everything you own. First off, you own a honda. Honda's are known to be stolen in general. If your worried about someone stealing your stuff, than you bought the wrong car.

The best you can do is get an alarm. If you want a system, I say go for it. You don't have to get subs. You can get a deck, and some good quality components.

Here are some tips if you do get a system. Just try to keep a low profile. Don't play your system loud around your house or if your going to someone's house, otherwise they'll know you have a system. If your going to store or mall don't play it loud around the parking lot area. You can turn it up while driving there, but don't blast it in the parking lot.

So in general, if your going to park your car somewhere, make sure you turn down the system when you get close to your destination. Don't open up your trunk if its not necessary. I hardly ever open my trunk. I usually just throw things in my back seat.

I also lock the trunk from the trunk release near the drivers seat. Note: They can still break into your trunk from the back, but this doesn't give them such an easy chance to steal your subs. If you don't lock the trunk release, all they have to do is get your door open, pull the release lever and bam... your subs are gone.

There's nothing you can do if someone wants to steal your stuff. You can buy a gun and stand around your car at all times...LOL. That's about it, but really there's no way of stopping someone 100% of the time. There are only ways to prevent theft.

If you don't feel what I wrote is sufficient for you to get a system, I'd advise you just not get one.

I love car audio, and hate sitting in a car with a bad sound system, so I'm willing to take the risk. I cannot drive without a decent system. This is coming from someone who change their stock deck 2 days after getting my car (it would have been the day I got my car, but I didn't know how to take a part the console area).

So the question you have to ask yourself is how important is this to you??

phuviano you make some great points, i feel the same way about not being comfortable driving without having the sound system bumpin, so what ive concluded about ur reply is that a need a gun and some sun screen because i plan to be out there all day.

The HU wont really make that much of a difference. U need a line out converter, amp, and subs to make it bump. However, I hate the sound of stock speakers and would highly recommend getting some speakers and amping them aswell cuz nothing will sould better.

And for the post about the security system, it will only deter %15 of thieves normally young kids. But otherwise that blinking red light would b a bullz eye for a normal theif and they can cut/bypass that security system in a matter of seconds normally under a min or 2. (it's not that hard unless they have a battery backup which will take a little longer to get around) I used to install these things not steal them..

If you want to replace the HU, do the fake stereo faceplate. Don't be stupid. Don't go into a parking lot with it cranked, and the windows down, etc. Especially if you're going to leave it parked there for more than a few minutes. You just have to be responsible.

If you live in an apartment, try turn down the system before driving around the lot.....Most ppl roaming around will be able to hear your system and think what else....

i decided to just leave the stock head unit, i want a system that sounds really good on the inside i dont mind if people cant hear me a block away and im setting off car alarms, should i just switch all the stock speakers, get 1 sub and an amp? i dont want anything crazy

i just got a type-r 12 and im runnin it with an 1800 W jl audio amp which i found for a steal. it sounds great in my car now. its totally up to you. you can do alot with one sub.

I would get a new HU, cause your gonna want rca out puts. If you use a line converter you will not be using the full potential of your amp and subs/speakers, so they re kinda of a waste, atleast IMO. I would get a new HU, then either get subs or speakers, but the stock speakers will be drowned out by subs and soudn shitty in general anyway. So i would recomend getting two pairs of component speakers 6.5"s, with a four channel amp, and tget one or two alpine type r 12 inch subs with mono amp. One will make a quality system, but two will make it really bump. If you get two subs you may also want a 1.5 farad cap as well, but you should be fine with out one with only one 12.
Also do not listen to your bother, whats the point of having anything nice, if you are worried get a viper alarm and that will deure MOST thieves. Get the upgraded interior speaker that makes it so loud in there it hurts, but there are ways around that too. I would not worry unless you live in a really bad par tof town otherwise i would leavie it up to kharma.

ok, if you want your **** to bump, but not rattle like a ****. then

get aftermarket speakers. components up front, 6x9 in the rear. then by a 4 channel speaker amp for your 4 speakers.
wire them, and hook them up. it'll bump like a ****ing bitch. it'll b loud as a mother f'er. you'll make ur ears bleed. but if you want ur bass to b overpowering, then go with a sub//amp.

It depends on which speakers you get. Most are not meant to play low freq, only mids and highs. Some speakers will bump though like infinity kappa perfects. but most will not. You may not want speakers to bump really only subs, thats why if you donot want to rattle everything and make a bunch of noise then one sub would still be recomended.
