Do I need anti-theft code to install OEM CD player in an '02 LX?
Do I need anti-theft code to install OEM CD player in an '02 LX?
Here's a veeeeeeerry basic question I can't find an answer to in any of the official manuals, etc., but I bet someone here will know.
My girlfriend has a 2002 LX (4-door, automatic if it matters) with the stock in-dash AM/FM/cassette player shown in the attached picture. For her birthday I bought her an OEM in-dash CD player, and I'd like to install it myself.
Looking around on the internet, I've found a number of references to the anti-theft code that you need to punch in to the radio when it's disconnected from the battery, but her owner's manual says that only the EX models need a code. She bought the car used and never received a card or any other documentation revealing the anti-theft code for her car. The only other piece of data I have is that she left her lights on a few months ago and needed a jump, but her radio never asked for the anti-theft code. That said, I think she only left her lights on for about an hour, so perhaps the battery hadn't run down all the way.
So, can anyone tell me if the kind of radio I've shown in the picture is going to require the code after I've installed the CD?
Thanks!

I'm pretty sure that u need it. You might wanna use the search button on the top of the page and type in anti theft code or radio code and you should b able to find it. if you find someone who knows what they r talking about click on their name thing and select personal message and ask them
Yeah, the code comes with the radio though, it's not car specific unless the radio came with the car, then it's tied to the VIN number and the dealer can usually look it up. If you bought the radio used from someone you need to get in touch with them to get the code. If you bought it new, then it should have a code with it.
Touch it... He won't bite, He'll just come at you pretty quick.

you need a code for the radio itself... its not the car asking for the code. As soon as you install that radio it will ask for a code.
