New Sub/Amp causing issue with charging system?

lol, after i hooked all my wires up again...i'm not going to take them off again....i dunno what it is but the light goes off when i go past the 4 on the tachometer and then stays off for the rest of the car ride... would getting a high output alternator or better battery work?
your amp shouldnt have anything to do with this cuz i have a 1200watt amp and i never have seen any light come on but my lights dim like a bastard when they hit, definately upgrade the ground wires.
