Pics of my new AVIC-D1
Hey guys. Just got my AVIC-D1 today and just finished installing it on my own. I've asked alot of questions over the past few days and everyones suggestions helped. Let me know what you guys think. This is my 04 Civic EX. I am getting the 05 Console Assemby soon and it will probably look much cleaner around the unitr. Anyway here are the pics. Oh and I took these pics with my Treo 650 so they arent that good.
That looks awesome! I love the way the civic dash looks with a full screen. Looks like you did a good job. I think I am going to try my hand at doing this in the future as well. I think I am going to pick up a spare dash piece and try fiber-glassing it to look custom/factory but I don't want to do it on the one in my car now. Well anyway, looks great good work!

d1 has nav
I don't know what ALL the differences are, but the D1 is a double din unit (n1 is a single din flipout). the d1 does have nav, but other than that it is similar to the n1/n2 OTHER THAN the vehicle dynamics function which requires a seperate module.

that's nice man,,, i was thinking about getting that one or the one that flips out from pioneer,,, does it play vcd's? looks like a 6.5 inch screen right? what website did you get it at? you did a good install on ur own,,, if you customize it maybe angle it more forewards for better viewing...
I'm not sure if it plays VCD's. Havent tried but i doubt it. I am still waiting for my 05 Civic SE console assembly. I think it will look alot better since its made for double din radios. I just got it today and could wait another couple days till the console assembly came in so I decided to do this install till I have time to do it with the other console.
2 hours, eh? This must be one of your first times taking the console apart. you will see that after a few more times, you will be able to disassmble the car in under two minutes.
Do not ask me how I know this.
But if you figure the time it takes to solder the harness adapter and all of that stuff, 2 hours sounds about right.
It looks really good. Enjoy it in good health.
I think the stock console area is one of the worst parts of the civic.
bland bland bland. ugh.
You dressed it up nicely.

Thanks guys. It was my first time taking apart the console in this civic. I've done it on other cars but not a civic. Cant wait for the 05 SE console assembly. I'm picking it up tomorrow. Hopefully it will look alot better.

I heard that the D1 NAV dosen't work unless your car is completely stopped... Like no driving around and looking at the NAV...
well there are some options that are not available while ur driving but u can still view ur navi and do vacinity searching. I guess you can pull on ur hand break like 1 click where its not really doing anything like holding the brakes in at all and the other option will be available. Tried it once, but not gonna make a habit of doing it.

no the navigation works fine while driving. you just cant enter in a new address while driving. It kind of has a favorites menu where you can put what places you want to go and it works but you just cant be driving and try to type an address.
