Mrd 500
Mrd 500
well after about 1 week after I ordered a pair of 12" type R alpine dual 2 ohm subs Sonic Electronics said that they were on backorder and I wouldn't see it for 3 weeks. I asked them to cancel the order and they did but the guy said that my MRD 500 digital amp is underpowering the 2 12 inch type Rs that I have and I should get a second amp....? I had it for 2 years and I thought they were good but am I really underpowering them....he said they are rated for 500 watt RMS and the amp should only power 1 sub not 2....urgggggh!!!! So do I stick with the 2 subs at dual 2 ohm impedence or just get the one like he said????? I dunno I'm sad!!!
u r underpowering them but both of them underpowered should still hit harder then just the one because u have twice the airspace being moved with the two. The subs r rated at 300 RMS and they recommend that you power a sub at least 70% of its RMS power and that means that if you had them both hooked up you would be close to that but still... it's ur call man if u wanna get another amp it would really pound..

300 RMS? My type R's are rated at 500 RMS. I've got that same amp with 1 type R and it sounds great. You could get the mrd 1000
