the deck already plays DVD's....so what would be the purpose of the VPE-S431? Its called an expansion tuner...so...i would think it expands graphics or something...i dunno, man this is confusing lol theres not much info on it that i can find.

The VPE is an expansion module for the Alpine Screens (IVA-D310 and TME-M770) which means it adds more A/V inputs and A/V outputs also giving a spectrum analyzer. It can be used stand alone with non alpine screens but it will only work as a video switcher, as for the spectrum analyzer working when using it with non alpine monitors Im not a 100% sure.

I got your PM and the only products I know that have some kind of graphics when not running a DVD are flip out monitors, Like the IVA-D901, single decks like the DVA-9860 only video while watching a movie, it will not send any graphics or displays when playing a CD.

Video switcher is exactly what it sounds like. It gives you the ability to control multiple screens and be able to watch different sources on each monitor at the same time. Spectrum analyzer is exactly what you said.
