will i need an amp to drive my components if..
Im gonna upgrade my 6.5's to infinitys, and my rear 6x9's to the best one pioneer makes 4-ways. Will i need to hook them up to an amp to see a difference? Or will the speakers themselves push harder and "speak for themselves" lol... Sorry Its early..Thanks for the help!! I just dont wanna spend 300 bucks on speakers if i will barely notice the difference!!
what HU are you using, if you are still stock i would suggest first investing in an aftermarket one
then, depending on the deck you are using and how loud you need to go, you dont HAVE to have an amp driving your componants, I dont, but my deck is a high end sony Xplod (if you go sony i recommend you do some research, only their high end stuff is worth it) that pushes 50x4 watts.
hope my 2 cents helps

Even HUs that put out say 50 watts a channel only put out about 22 watts RMS. They will sound better than stock, but if you have the money, upgrading with a nice 4 channel amp should make it sound a lot better and make the speakers happy. I think running off the HU for now is good enough and save up for an amp.

Which Infinity components?.. Reference, Kappa or Kappa perfects... If it's the Kappa's or perfects you will need an amp for the speakers to sound good.Otherwise the HU just doen't put out enough power to keep these happy. I'd reccomend getting an Aftermarket HU.. and possibly just a 2m chanel amp with 50Wrmsx2 for the components.. run the rear speakers off your Aftermarket HU.. You can get a decent 2 chanel amp for under $200 easily.. An Aftermarket HU.. depending on what you want can range from $150-$3k
If you don't want something with a flashy display and just want something functional and relaible with amp outputs. You can pick something up for about $175.

These speakers will sound decent, but if you are spending that much money get a nice 4 channel to push it. It will be better for your investment if you get the amp. With the the head unit, you have a better chance of getting distortion at higher volumes.
