Alternator, Battery, and my car turning off

I have two amps (one is 800W max power, and the other is 600W max power). My old alternator had crapped out on me. My battery (which is only like a month old) got completely drained 2 times before I had a chance to change the alternator. Well since I was trying to be cheap I just purchased the cheapest stock replacement alternator. I think it was rated at 105 amps (maybe 115).

Well a couple of days ago I was messing with my system (i.e. changing the gains on the amps, messing with the equalizer, etc.) with my car parked outside this pharmacy. I had the volume on high and I did this for about 10-15 minutes or so, then I went to a nearby gym, on the way home from the gym I had just gotten on the highway and I had my AC on and I was bumping my music system when out of nowhere my car just turns off. I pull to the shoulder and I turn it back on and keep driving. Then I get to a stop-light and my car turns off again.

My questions are now I’m a little freaked out about my car turning off. I know I was dumb for having my car parked with the music pumping for more then just a couple of minutes. Do you think as long as I avoid that I'll be fine? I'm just worried because this never happened before I got my alternator changed, do you think I should change my alternator to something that is higher output? What would you guys recommend? I drive an Acura CL 3.0. Also do you think my battery getting drained so many times in the last couple of weeks could’ve caused some serious damage. It a platinum version of a generic battery line that is sold at Autozone (I think) and was like $70 dollars. Should I upgrade my battery to be on the safe side. What are my options as far as a battery is concerned and what would you recommend?

Yea My opion is the battery maybe damaged, deep cycles are batterys that are designed to be completely drained then recharged as acid batterys are not. Start cheapest first, battery. Also get a cheap DMM (digital multi meter) and check your alternater output to make sure its doing 14.2 volts or whatever are cars do while running. Then if you decide to replace the battery and it keeps happening, I would take it to the dealer or a shop and have it checked.

In my old car well my first car i had an 89 beretta with similar amps. i had teh same prob i had a cheap battery nd alternator. one day my car started to stop on me. Finally after it kept doing what it did to you one day it stoped and my slternator seized up completely. I replaced with a yellowtop battery a high am, alt and a cap and i was fine. make sure your battery is charged completely. bring tit to an autozone and get it charged completely
it may help a little bit.

I would probably have bought a high performance alternator. Get an optima yellow top battery, because that's what they were designed for.

A capacitor on the other hand may or may not be necessary. Some say it puts a strain on your system, some say it helps out with the light dimming.

For now I would just change to a high performance alt and battery.

btw, you should not pound your system with your car off. You can do it, but I wouldn't suggest it.

your alternator is probably dead. if your alternator is kaput that means your battery is running everything and once it drains, your car turns off becuase the computer cant run....

I realize you put in a new alternator... haveit checked out, maybe it was put in wrong, no good, or any number of other possibilities
