My Car Computer Progress . . .

Ok, this is the trunk with the vanity panel up. This is a mid-progress shot, I have since cleaned up around the DVD Combo drive and I'm installing a cover over lower fan.

Here is a shot of the screen with flash on

Here is a shot of the computer running Road Runner front end

j187, i have a little bit of an idea what i wanna do to mine to, i was thinknin of putting a dvd/cd-rw underneath the monitor, relocate the a/c controls like derek did, something a long those lines, what u think? i ask you not only to help u with ideas, but because i see the drop dead gorgeous job u did on ur monitor

edit...what about all the bass/vibration around the hard drive....that wouldnt be good...or do u have the actual drive on shock mounts

You know, funny you should say that. The original plan was to do just that. I began the control relocation and then I started to thinik . . . HOw often will be using the DVD Combo drive??? The answer for me was harldy at all. It didn't warrant such a drastic change to the dash. Remember, that would mean either extending the living crap out of power cable and IDE or using a usb slim drive, neither of which appealed to me. Most of my videos/dvds will be ripped to the HDD, so I won't be using it much there. I kept my alpine 9833 relocated down below - So I won't need the CD ROm there, and When I wanna install programs or the occasional DVD Video I put in, it doesn't bother me to go to the trunk. If you have more use for it, go for it. I just couldn't warrant it.

The HDD is vertically mounted on the other side of the board that holds the MOBO. Its a plain ole Seagate Barracuda 160GB 7200RPM IDE HDD. If I get a chance, I'll take a pic of the actual computer setup.

cool, just to be safe i would get some soft rubber and mount the drive through it, cuz if u hit a hard bump it's gonna destroy that drive, the heads floater 1/10 of a mm above the plater, so it doesn't take much for those to digg in

I like that front-end. I am currently builing my carputer and was going to use Media Engine. I really like that Honda skin your using though, any link to it. Do you think Roadrunner is much better?
Thanks
