amplifier loosing power?

Ok so the problem is when I turn on my sub the amp runs but then looses power. My system consists of a batcap, sub, and amp.The batcap is ran with the positive and negative both ran to the battery. There is also a breaker between the batcap and the amp.

u mean is it making contact? the amp has a green power led on a remote that will go on and off as the power comes back so I believe that it is. Ill try and bypass that and see if anything happens. but also it will not just loose the power it fades away

I assume you mean a capacitor when you say batcap. if you do then you do not hook it up the way you do with the negative and the positive to the battery. You hook up the positive to the battery and then you ground the ground on the cap. make sure you then connect the positive from the cap no more than a few fet from the amp. I woudl check the breaker, but if you get power than i woudl assume that its working. You then can troubleshoot the remote wire it may be losing connection (doubtful though). you can bypass the remote by putting a wire from teh remote from the power from the battery directly to the remote to see if its the remote. If you don;t understand that you can PM me or post on this. That will check your remote lead to see if its bad when you disconnect it and then jimmy rig a wire from positive power to your remote lead on the amp. If that does not work you may want to see if a buddy will let you plug your amp in thwir car to see if the same problem happens. Another thing you can do is see if the sub is the correct ohmage for the amp. If the sub is running at too low an ohmage it could be pushing the amp too hard and making its protective circuitry shut it off. -Matt

This is probably making your amp shut off. A buddy of mine was having the same problem and when i rewired his sub and amp, his problem went away.

don't forget to shorten the ground wire to your cap, find a spot in your trunk to bolt it down
