Hey guys... i just need some help im looking for a system for my car and i've finally finalized my list. For my deck im going to go with:
Alpine CDA-9855- $ 399
1 12" Kicker L7 - 229 in box
Now here's where i need you help what type of Amp should i go with... I don't really wanna shell out too much more cash... But i don't want something that won't power the L7...Besides the Amp should i get a capacitor (i think thats what they're called) extra battery ?, and what gague wire should i used...As u can see im pretty much at your mercy

No cap unless you end up having some dimming, as for the amp get a class d amp check ebay just about any brand of class d amp. Need to know what voice coil your sub is, mine is the solox and its dual 2ohm yours should be the same, but double check and just make sure that you get an amp that will run at 1ohm mono, most class d's will do this some run @ 2ohm mono just make sure that if your subs voice coils are 2ohm a peice that the amp you get is a 1ohm mono amp. The reason for this is a class d is the cheapest way to get enough power for the sub. Get at least 750 rms, Becuase when dealing with class'ds there a little higher on the distorion side, so having a higher output amp you wont have to run it hard.

Hifonics are good amps and go for a decent price on ebay. You can typically get a 600rms (at 1ohm) mono amp for about 130 plus shipping(about half the cost of online stores or retail places). They have higher wattage amps but they are not quite so common or cheap. I have heard Alpine and JL amps are good as well with little distortion.

Yea I wil be running a a bx605 hifonics amp with an infinity 1032. Just something nice and crisp. For what it sounds like he wants it would be a good choice if he is running it at 1 ohm. Mine will be at 2 ohm.(300rms). 600rms is going to sound extremely nice with an amp that has little distortion. I would just say to stay away from the off brands, the ones that go for under 100 for example.

Sorry i've been outta town... Thanks for the advice... Im still looking for an amp almost bought my friend's JL 500/1 for $200 but i went and the headunit instead... It's pretty sweet I got it with the ipod hook up... It works really well... Now im in the process of deciding between the Kicker L7 with 2 ohm or 4 ohm both are DVC so at this point i have no idea what to go with...
