Need help choosing components...
I'm trying to find a set of 6.5" components to fit in the front of my 2004 EX coupe, I did a few searches but couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. I checked on crutchfield but they only have 3 sets listed as fitting, there has to be more choices out there.
Has anyone figured out exactly how deep a speaker can fit in the door? or how much you can space a speaker out without worrying about the door panel fitting back on? This might make my search a bit easier. Thanks.

Don't be afraid to cut the plastic door panel either. Dremel goes thru it even easier, but then the plastic melts and makes a mess, so go slow.
I think the max mounting depth is 2 1/8th inch and the max spacer is 1 1/2 inch. something like that.

I just got Infinity Kappa's, but their kind of pricey and you'll need to do some metal cutting. By the way the speaker hole in the door is shaped, I think you have cut metal regardless of which components you get.
Well I guess except for the Alpines.

How do you like the kappas? My friend has the perfect components, and he was saying people like the kappa series more.

damn, I would really like to hear the kappas and perfects side by side.
I have JL Audio XR650-CSi mounted and they sound really good. I had them just wired up to the deck and they sounded ok. Then I hooked them up to a JL Audio 300/4 and they sound great now. All you need to make them fit is a spacer.
i put alpine type r's in. I bent the sheetmetal in the doors back to make the hole round and then used 3/4" mdf and cut out round spacers. i mounted the mdf to the doors, then alpine's plastic mounting ring to the mdf, then the speakers go right in. i also cut the plastic that sticks out around the speaker grill on the door panel to make sure the speaker doesn't hit the door panel. took about 2 hours total to install. best buy told me there was no way possible for them to work. but they sound alot better than the sony xplode 6 1/2's i had in there. i got the alpine cda 9825 hu and a tsunami 4 channel giving them 75 rms a piece.

What thickness size spacer did you use?
