Speaker wire into front doors?
Speaker wire into front doors?
I'll be running 4 conductor 16 guage speaker wire into the front doors of my 01 ex coupe. Is there room in the factory accordion tube for extra wire or will I have to drill? Has anyone else run speaker wire into the doors in this way?
I have an LX 01 and on mine there is actually a hole in the acordian gasket/gromet at both ends of the acordian. I ran my speaker wire throgh there but I only ran 14 gauge single(dual conductor) connection. hope that helps...........
You can easily fit 16-4 through the rubber tube. Just do yourself a favor, instead of spending an hour and a half trying to snake the wire thorough at strange angles. Unplug the harness that runs through the rubber from the factory under the dash and pull it through the hole. This will allow the rubber to come free from tension and you can slip your wire through no problem.

My friends and I pulled some 12 gauge through the door grommets using a coat hanger to pull it through. There's a decent amount of room in there, you shouldn't have too much trouble.

I did 2 pairs of 12 gauge speaker wire into my doors thru the factory accordion thing with no probs. Tied the wire to a straight long piece of coat hanger and fished it thru. PITA at first but once I got the hang of it, was no problem

yep, that's the easiest way to do it. I just ran some 14awg wire today to replace the tiny stock ones. Also ran my tweeters with 16awg. There's plenty of space
