upgrading install kit
well, tomorrow, i'm going to tear my car apart, i've had a crappy install kit on my stere on for quite sometime, 8 gauge, cut and re soldered to fix...etc.
tmorrow, i'm running a 4 gauge, and 14 gauge to all my speakers hopefully it'll sound better

kicker cvr12 (300 rms) bazooka amp pushing that, crunch p125.2.....which is being replaced, i'm putting this install kit in to prepare for the new 4 channel and cap i'm gonna get
yeah, i gotta tear mine apart pretty soon. i went alpine type r. i wired my amp wrong so the gain and filters adjust left and right instead of front and back like i wanted
it sounds good but i don't have the control i wanted.

If you already know all that then disregard.. Sounds like you guys are on the right path. Keep us updated..

well technically you can go longer if you have thicker wire, I would put it like this:
10guage - 16" or less
8guage - 18" or less
4guage - 22" or less
1guage - 30" or less
these numbers are my opinion and I have seen them used with out hassle, but the rule is no longer then 18". keep in mind the shorter the better. Direct Current or DC power works like a complete circuit, from start to finish hence the need for ground wires. Ac or Alternating current alternates from pos to neg at a certain cycle and ends with whatever you have plugged in. USA - our power runs at 60hz or 60 cycles If you ever walk buy a tranformer and hear it humming that hum is a 60hz note like a bass note!. But your car has a start point (battery) and an end point (battery) your electronics run in between and need a ground wire to complete the circuit so the shorter the ground wire the faster the power can return.

. Your cars body will do it faster always.. good to know. i think mines about a foot long or so. i attached it to a bolt in the back of the trunk and sanded down some of the paint to get a good connection. i've had it for almost a year now and no problems so hopefully i'm alright, aside from the speaker wiring...
Lecture, no you guys are on point! One thing I have learned about anything but especially car audio is when you say you know most if not all, then you havent learned nothing! this stuff changes daily, Ohms law, power, grounding that stuff never changes but they are creating new stuff in this industry by the minute. So I personally will never lecture anyone only becuase I learn from guys like you, It seems that for some reason guys that are kinda new to it come up with the most craziest problems which in turn I learn greatly from!!.
