Question Kicker CompVR or JL W3V2?

I am trying to decide on whether I should get the 12 inch Kicker CompVR or the 12 inch JL audio W3V2. I can get them both for about the same price and was wondering which one was the better sub in terms of which sub will play lower frequencies and/or be louder or will basically just last longer and be more reliable. I am only going to be running one and will be powering it with about 350 watts RMS with 4 ohm impedence. I also would like advice on what type of enclosure (sealed or slot ported) would be best for the chosen sub considering I listen to rap and hip hop. I have been looking at their specs and trying to figure out the differences that way but I don't know anything about Thiele/Small parameters so I couldn't make sense of them. Also, if you recommend a sub, can you point me in the direction where I can get a good deal for it, prefereably a reputable online shop or if not, I live in southern California near Los Angeles and Orange County and will be willing to drive to either place to save good money. Please help and thanks in advance.

Out of all the systems I have heard, I think mine has the best mix of SPL/SQ and value per $$$. W7s are too much. And this setup with so much dynamat (2 layers) pounds hard. Feels like getting a small book dropped on your chest every time a bass drum hits. With rap, and techno, it pounds so loud. Never distorts though, and they are amazingly clear sounding for a ported setup.

I've had both versions in 10 inch form. I personally think that the Comp VR is the way to go in this situation. I have 500 watts running 2 kicker comp VR 10's in my Vic and they sound do clean and tight. AWESOME!! For JL stuff, I have a 10W7 (in my Integra) and I think it's one of the best subs I've ever heard. Although, I've also had JLW6's in 12 inch version. Damn, this really is a hard choice. All I can say is as long as you supply the right amount of power, any one of those subs will sound fantastic.

I was thinking about getting a JL W1V2 but I saw that they don't take too much power (the 12 has an RMS of 150 while the 13 has an RMS of 200). Does that mean they also won't be that loud? If I'm running 350 watts RMS from my amp, would that be too much power? And in that case, would too much power be better than not enough power (as the Jl 12 W3V2 is 400 watts RMS, I'm 50 short). What would that extra inch from the 13 inch do for the bass? I've never heard a 13 inch before. Sorry for all the questions. I trust you guys more than salespeople cause they'll feed you bullsh*t just to get you to buy something.

Are those W3V2? in your pics? How much power are you feeding them? I wonder how just one would sound.

I have a JL 500/1 which is somewhere between 500 and 600 watts RMS (at 4 ohms. everyone gets different numbers but no one ever tests under 500, and I have seen 600 a few times at 4 ohms at least)
But yeah they are 2W3v2s. I have 2 10's and they are really nice. The 2 12s sounded alot louder but wouldnt fit as easily and I didnt want something too heavy. But 1 W3v2 wont be very loud. Just moderate volume, and will be very very clear. Still I bet you can feel just one.
Heck I feel my subs vibrate the seat on volume 9 (up to 30 on my head unit with subs tuned to be at max around 27) so yeah they are nice.

Honestly Im more impressed with the 500/1. Its an amazing piece of equipment. And now its getting a cap (well the amp outputs full wattage even when voltage drops, but the rest of the car will appreciate the less strain on the electrical system.) Cap comes in monday. Cant wait I just finished school and now all i have is 1 summer class. but im so burnt out from my worst semester ever I needed to buy crap and install it in my car just to get it out of my system. And more than anything I need to see my girlfriend, i never see her with school and she lives only 2 mins away. So thats where I am going now...PM me with any more ?'s. ok?
