ahh god help. i broke it

ok so we were working on my amp.. yes i left teh power on

hers teh story

buddy was hookign his amp and subs up in my trunk. si i was piggy backing the amp turn on wire from my amp to his.. and it wasnt work so we were testing wires from + on my amp to + on his amp. same as - to try and get it to work.

ok so i dropped the wire

it was hooked to - on my ampa nd it hit the + on his amp.. so we put his back in his car. it works fine. but mine jsut leaves the red light on.

now ti has LED's in it. and they light up 1/3 percent which it did before when my ground was ****ed. if i disconect my rca's the lights go out.

so it seems like the amp is getting power. but not getting ground

could i ahve fried soemthing IN the amp that is not letting the amp get grounded. i checked the fuse in the amp it looks fine.a nd i checked the one on my 4awg line. its fine

WTF?

You should try leaving it disconnected for a little while then trying it again. Sometimes amps in protection don't come out right away even though the problem isn't persisting.

if you think it could be a bad ground, check the ground. usually if you pull out the RCA's and the amp shuts off completely, thats a pretty clear sign of poor ground. what do you mean piggybacking amp turn on? like you tried to send 12v+ from your car to his amp? that wouldnt work, you can't introduce a foreign power source to an amp like that.

no his amp was hooked up in my car to my car.. thats not the prbolem\

the ground is the same ground i used before the sparks.. bit its shutting down when you remove the rca's. this to me means no ground. but I know the ground wire works. i tested it :|

its bveen off for a while. i'll try it tomorow morn and pray I guess

if you cant read or write, you shouldn't be playing with amps...
i can barely understand what you're trying to say...

anyways, if you shorted out the positive battery wire to the negative ground, you could have blown the fuse connected to your power wire. that's why your amp wont turn on in your car but your friend's amp works just fine in his car.

remove the power/remote (rca's even just for good measure) and leave them out for a few minutes and plug em back in. amp may need to reset itself.

mohawkboom is an unknown quantity at this point
either all of the above, or you burnt the ground trace on the amp board which is an easy fix, if you know how to solder onto a circuit board.
