Bose sound system
hey what do you guys think of taking the bose sound system out of an Altima. Can it be done or would there be a lot of modifying need get it set up in the car?
I wouldn't do it. I'm not sure how the system is set up, but Bose relys heavily on specialized electronics to make their systems sound good. Bose does much of its research in the areas of phsycological perception of sound. This means there systems may not have the best frequency response or the best quality sound, but they are able to emphasize the parts of the spectrum and qualities of the music that make people believe it sounds good. I'm personally a big fan of Bose. I don't care if the sound quality is real or percieved. They sound damn good to me. So I guess what I'm saying is, they may have a bunch of electronics in the Altima HU to help make the sound better match the cars interior. I would just get a good aftermarket system. I don't know $hit about the system in the Altima though....so my opinion is actually pretty worthless. Since I've wasted so much time typing it, I'm going to post it anywayz.
Last time I had this much fun some furniture got broken!

even if sound quality is ony "percieved" thats still the ONLY thing that matters in SQ...how it sounds to you!!!
So emphasizing certian frequencies in their speakers that you hear louder or whatever they do..it works. bose = awesome.
as for this I dont think its the best idea though. Just get some nice alpine/infinity/eclipse/jl/crossfire speakers

bose systems are better than nothing. but if you want more bump in the trunk, then it may be a good idea to remove the bose equipment and replace it with your choice of audio equipment.
but why do you want to remove it tho? not loud, sounds like ***, etc

You will spend assloads of money, and be disappointed with the result. Bose car audio systems are acousticaly tuned to the car they are installed in with speaker locations and frequency boosting. In all likelyhood, it will sound like crap in your car. Hell, my friend has a 99 TL that had Bose stock, and I thought it sounded like crap in the car it was designed for. Aftermarket will sound better (if you get good stuff) no matter what.

with a bose system, i think you have to either leave everything as is or change everything or else the system will sound like crap..
