Just went out last week and bought the new Alpine CDA-9855 headunit and hooked my Ipod up to it. The headunit is amazing and the sound quality with the ipod is excellent. Here is a pic of the headunit.

I've had the 9855 for about 2 1/2 weeks now. Got one the first ones in OC area. It's a great one, and I knew the owner of the shop, so I walked out with it for $400 even. Not bad, I just like having it's own iPod selection instead of using it as the cd changer.
BTW, I've always had a question about the 9835 and the 9855 has the same thing, a wire that goes to a metal box and it's a DC/DC Converter. What exactly is this for? I've never known, and always wondered.
Thanks.
Thanks.
I'm pretty sure that box is the power supply for the amp inside...or the power for the display. Honestly, I don't know, but those are my guesses
I also prefer my 9835 to the 55, not a fan of the strip, but the software for the display is better on the 55 IMO.
What I *really* want is the new HU due out late this summer for $1600...full color BioLite, DVD, etc, etc.
