Help with spacers for CDT Audio CL-61
Help with spacers for CDT Audio CL-61
Hey guys,
i have a 2002 Civic LX Coupe, and i will be receiving my CDT Audio CL-61 (6.5" components for the fronts) any time this week.
i know i will need spacers to mount the new speakers, and i think 3/4" thick MDF will do the job (correct me pls if i'm wrong).
I wanna make my spacers in advance and have them ready for the speakers installation, so i need to know the outside and inside diameters to have them properly installed. Can anyone tell me these dimensions please!
also if any of u have these speakers in ur civic, do u know if the tweeters are easily mounted on the stock tweeter mounts that go in the corners of the windows, near the dash?
Thanks in advance for all ur help!

Yes, 3/4" spacers are ok
No, I don't remember the exact diameter, just wait till they come and use the ring they give you.
No, they don't fit very well into the sail panels, at least without some modification. My only gripe with the CDTs was that there is no hole in the centre of the tweeter to screw to. What I did was wrap the outside in electrical tape until I could squeeze the tweets tightly into the pods and there they stay. All you have to do is shave that little sqaure plastic notch inside the pod off. This can easily be accomplished by using a lighter and a small flathead. Heat the screwdriver up until hot, then press the little plastic square until it melts agains the side of the pod. After that, enjoy the amazing sound of these speakers. Oh, and make sure you sound deadening your doors - these things have some serious mid-bass.
