need help with ipod to car. (sorry, im just so confused with other threads)
i want to ipod my car.
but i dont want to control the ipod through my HU, i want to control the songs from the ipod itself. (i think it would be easier)
i have a alpine 9827 HU
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-NLCD5U8...search=cda9827
do i need to turn my AI-net to a AUX with this?
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-NLCD5U8...0KCA121B&o=&a=
when i do change it to the AUX, that can i connect it to this?
http://www.radioshack.com/product.as...5Fid=12%2D2057
and that will connect to my ipod, then can i control the songs with my ipod rather than the HU itself???

I 3rd the motion, thats exactly how mine is hooked up because my ipod doesnt support the ipod adapter (I have an olllld ipod) ditch the monster cable though, get the part at radioshak...costs $5 and works just fine.
I spent 1425 points to do this.

please DO NOT spend $20 on a friggn rca to 1/4" cable.
for god sake they sell em at the dollar store.
if you want a fancy thick one, get it at best buy or circuit city, spend $8
PS- why dont you just get a wireless FM connection? they use batteries, theyre cheap.
im not too sure on the quality. I used to have an fm transmitted 10disc changer, it sounded perfect, then again- it wasnt wireless.
OR this HOT thing that will not only do it all without wires, BUT it will also charge your ipod!

im gonna go with a wire setup.
why?
better sound.
im gonna go with that ai-net to aux wire for my HU and a cheaper wire for the ipod to HU.
thanks for your help guys.

I used to work at a major retailer that sold monster cable, and we pushed it hard because of huge profits for the company and minute profits for the sales person.
theres like 75% markups on that ****, but it is a better cable. Not that you'd hear the diff anyways

I have the kenwood ipod adapter that plugs directly from the ipod to the cd changer control on the hu. Do they have a wire like that that will connect from the kenwood ipod adapter wire to the ipod that will allow me to control the ipod and not the deck. I would rather control the songs through the ipod. I dont like controlling them through the deck.
just a troll who likes to laugh at YOU.

a few short points on this:
if you can, avoid FM transmitters. the static really sucks, even if it's not much (it was a lot in my car
). tape adapters are better than FM
.
if you use a 1/4" -to- RCA wire, that will have volume adjustment on the iPod, something that i really didn't want. all you have to do is brush into the iPod and the volume changes. also, if you want charging you'll need a separate wire to the cig lighter (translation: not clean).
i know some of the custom wire setups are pricey (check out www.logjamelectronics.com for a good list), but with my adapter, i get control from the stereo _and_ the iPod, and it charges (i keep the backlight always on now
), and there's no wire coming out the top of it...the plug's at the bottom, where it's hidden.
/ok i'm done ranting

you dont have to use the monster cables...they're too expensive, just use one from radioshack. they're like 4 bucks and work the same way. the difference between monster and the regular ones is the insulation of the cable. they're usually the same gauge so you wont hear a big difference.
