Enclosure question
Sorry if this question is a little confusing.
For a while, I have been using an enclosure with a single Rockford Fosgate P112S4 (12" punch stage 1 if you don't feel like looking it up) in a ported 1.75 cubic foot enclosure. Now I'm planning to add a second sub to my system and my friend who helped me build the enclosure that I'm currently using told me that we can just take off the front of the box and recut a new piece that can hold both of the subs (since the box is wide enough for two 12" subs). Then he talked about how subs can share airspace. I was wondering if anyone knew how it would effect the performance if you were to compare it to a ported box that has 1.75 cubic feet per sub.

No, that enclosure with two woofers would sound worse than one. You need much more volume for those puch's, like 2+cu. If you buddy helped you build the first enclosure, he can help you with the second. Of course they share airspace, but what they can't do is share the same volume at the same time. In other words, every time they hit, they can't each utilize the same 1cu, they split it.
