for ppl without removable faceplates...
what security measures do you take? do you have any way to hide your faceplate?
currently I have 2 DIN units in my dash, a DVD player and a fixed face HU... the HU is pretty attractive looking and the DVD player has a/v plugs on the front, so its pretty obvious from the outside...
any suggestions?

find a piece of cardboard/wood/something and color it to match your center console. when u leave the car, use that colored piece to cover your headunit/screen/w.e so it blends in with the console.
remember to make it the exact color and fit flush or something will be fishy

Yea, thats real scary thats why i dont wanna a dvd player in my car. I know its nice but it wont once u get jacked. I dunno if i were u i would just sell the DVD player and get something more simple thats not as flashy before its gonna get stolen. Anyone who owned a DVD player in their car before had it stolen so just be careful......

Recess both HU's further back into the dash.
Chop up a stock CD or Tape player and use that as a security cover for the top HU.
It's been done by many members including myself.
For the bottom, I'd try to chop up the flip cover from an EX so you can use that as a cover for the bottom HU.

I have an eclipse deck.
you gotta be a idoit to steal it.
I love the securtiy CD feature.
But in your case
you could recease them in deeper
then use a front of door pocket and the face off of a stock radio and do this:

the problem is my eclipse has a swing face and it has to be mounted the way it is so that it can swing properly.. in fact it took me a long *** time to get it mounted in such a way that it can swing open

I think the ***** pull off and the face is held by clips. But yea I would do something quick before you get jacked. You can't leave those decks in plain view.
