amp setup...
amp setup...
I set up my amp yesterday and it will not seem to work...the fuses are fine...the ground wire and the turn on wire touched on accident, and got a little green spark...i had the amp on before when a wire was not fully in place...could i have blown something? how can i test everything?
Last time I had this much fun some furniture got broken!

First hook up everything like normal, and replace the fuses both on your amp if you have one and the one next to the battery. Also check all car's fuses!!! Then try it. If nothing check all power/ground wires to make sure you have complete connections and no broken wires. Make sure your +/- wires also arent touching ANY metal anywhere but the terminals on the amp itself. Last check your signal wires and make sure they are connected and the HU has them enabled and at a reasonable volume. Also take a multimeter and make sure the +/- wires are sending power. If nothing else take the amp and some spare wire and try to run it hook it up outside of the car right from the battery + terminal/ ground off of chassis. If still nothing you might have killed the amp/have a bad amp.
Try this stuff and come back.

haha omg.. ok im having the same problem. just came to post
i hooked it up. but forgot to ground it.... thought i had but i just missed doing that because i had runt he wire..e tc..
now the amp lights up whent he deck turns on. but the lil led on the lamp goes red (protection) instead of green(on)
and when the amp powers on/opff it just does that
i ran my front speakers tot he amp.a nd the front rca off the deck to the amp
only have 10awg power wire right no
but asnt planning to use it to much untill i got more. and 8awg grnd wire
so no matter wut. the amps internal lights come on. but all i get is power protect
i never thought powering something without ground could hurt it. as u need ground to complete a circuit :|
but ic ant figure out whats happening
same problem as above i guess
its a crapp amp. i know. the Nitro BMW-482 :|

oha nd love4honda
if your ground and turn on wire had touched.. is your turn on wire attached to the ignition or to your deck?
if your deck i may have broke that part ont he deck. does deck work fine?
if so try running the turn on from the amp to something such as your cig lighter

Check you power and ground too, buy using a test light. Clip the light to a known ground then probe your power wire, then clip clip the light to your ground and probe the power wire once you know it has power.

The amp is somehow still finding a ground. Check all wires going to the amp. Check your remote, Did you find any blown fuses yet? Test them all. Check your rca's as well. An amp can find a ground through an rca and go all the way to the deck unless you have directional RCAs.
For the dude that started this thread, your problem is more than likely a fuse as you touched power to ground.
For Paradox, you have an overload problem. Now, either your amp is wiggin out because of you 10 awg power wire, you should probably get a 4 awg just to be sure, or you've connected a load wrong, IE speakers. OR, you've got blown speaker(s).
First thing I would do is connect at least an 8 or 4 awg power wire and check fuses at the amp.
Second thing, disconnect all my speaker wires, look over the amp and the layout and determine if they were connected properly.
Third thing, inspect my speakers for damage.
Amp protection is a thermal safety. It's due to some sort of heat issues and designed to stop damage from occuring due to excess heat. Amps overheat for all different reasons. Once you've got confidence that your amp is hooked up properly, speaker wires in the right spot and the proper size power and ground wires, if its still shutting down, try it with the trunk open and then with a fan blowing in. Also, make sure if you have something bridged, and it's possible, unbridge it to see if it helps. For instance, if you were running your front speakers off channels 1-4 bridged to 2, try running them off channels 1 and 2 stereo.

yeah j i was planning on trying higher wire.. its not shutting down. just doesnt turn on. if i unhook the speakers should the amp still turn on? also same witht he rca's? ill check those also.b ut i think it may be the 10awg wirign also
the 10awg is being run for something else. but i didnt have any 4 so the 10 was jsut a temp till ig ot something higher. to see if it worked..
