Did the manual say anything? If not I would contact Kenwood 1st since I doubt its supposed to be like that (obviosuly).
Things I would check:
EQ
Pre-Amp/Post-Amp output levels
Check all connections
If still not working read the manual
Still not working email or call kenwood!

Since you are having problems with different sources I would try two things:
1. Make sure your HUs crossovers are set right on the CD setting (i bet this is the problem). All Settings (CD, Aux, Changer) allow for different configerations, and it is possible that you have you crossover set wrong.
2. Most Kenwood have a reset button...try hitting the button and see if it works after that. One problem with this is that ALL of you setting get reset...but this has worked for me before when I have function problems with a Kenwood.

my point is... if the amp/subs work when the tuner is on radio. its telling me that the amp is actually powering up and it should work period..i dont c anything that says "connect these wires with these other wires so the amp and subs can work during cd playback" .or am i wrong?...
anyway i think this amp has problems... i have a brand new one waiting to be installed... i really hope its the amp
