I'm toying with the Idea of getting this HU to replace my Sony. heard anything about it?

Well I beleive it's a middle end Apline CD HU... pretty much anything Alpine is good quality.. specially the HU's.. Is this the model with the optional 60wattx4 output?

Any Alpine that starts with 79 doesn't have any power output.

that model of alpine does not have an amp..its top end alpine..very nice. but if i was you i'd get the CDA-7875...thats what i'm getting..its a bit less $$ and unless you will use all its features then why bother buying top line??

you should get it....it puts out 60wx4 max....and has three pre-outs rather than two. i had a 2000 model alpine deck almost like that one and it was sweet.

The 7875 only has a 4volt preout on the sub though, the 7977 is all 3. Preouts are for adding an amplifier.

no power output is cool. since i'll be going for the 4 channel amp setup it doesn't make much difference, just saves me money.

I have the Alpine 7977 deck. Nice deck but you will have to run a amp to use it

Or you could wait a few more months for the CDA-7998 - CD/DVD/XM/MP3 - very sweet deck, premiered at the C.E.S. a few weeks back.
