Where should I mount my tweeter?
I have an EX sedan so the sail panel is out. I don't want to surface mount them either. I was thinking the top of the a-pillar, the bottom of the pillar or down in the stock kick panels. Any other suggestions?
I am not a fan of cutting up the door panel. I am interested in a low-profile install as much a possible. I am also considering the dash, but am not sure how to remove it. I need something w/about an inch of free space under the surface so the tweeters will go in flush.

2 locations:
surface mounted on the a pillar. itll stick out a little, but its not bad at all. if you really want it to have that flush look, you can fill the space with bodyfiller and vinyl over the whole thing. works pretty well.
the other option is to use backstrapping ot suspend the tweeter above the midrange inside the door. no problems with having to cut up the door, the tweeter is stealth installed, and you cna angle the tweeter whichever way you need to so your stage horizon is high.

that looks identicla to my LPG tweeters, except mine are in the A-pillar. both would be excellent locations. you can see how the aesthetics of the surface mount tweeters can be great, too.

Um I wish. We have the power mirror plug and wires back there, so there's no room for tweeters unless you surface mount it. Not even sure the coupe panels are the same size.
I would put them in the door pannel just infront of the door latch..i drilled mine in there, they sit very very clean, look good and sound good...i think its the best place to mount...not a fan of the surface mount..i will post pics of my tweeters tomorrow morning when i get back to my house...

type r tweeters in coupe pods..:P dont know if the pods fit the sedans though...i think the coupe windshield is more sloped...
Someone here has made sails from a coupe fit, I thought. I'm confused as to how the sedans come, and what year are we talking about here. If the sedan's come witha blank sail panel, there's proably a way to make tweets fit with the mirror wires and all . . .

There is no room at all back there if you have a sedan. That's why they don't have factory tweets and why the coupe panels won't fit. Go try it and tell me I'm right.

As i said alittle earlier in this thread, i mounted my tweeters in the front doors in front of the door handles...i think it is a gret place to mount them and think u should think about mounting them there......here are some pics of my tweeters...

A guy here used the coupe parts and some body filler and lots of sand paper made them look good not great if you want a perfect install use the kick panels, a pillar or the door mount...by the way great work...good luck
those pictures remind me. if you have a lip around your tweeter, the door is an excelent place. the lip hides any imperfections.
but if its totally totally flush, no lip even, even a hole saw might not be clean enough to make the install look stock.
but that lip makes his install look factory. minus the logo, of course

i believe they were like 1 1/2in max....there is PLENTY of room back there...you should be just fine..just spend the money on the right size drill bit and it is a very very easy install

well, u gotta have the logo, gotta represent the brand...and yes, if u buy the correct size drill bit, your hole comes out perfectly...and the lip lays down flush to add to the cleaness of the install
well, theres a burr even if the bit is perfect, which cant be easily and cleanly removed, for pure pure flushmounting (I consider that lip still a "surface mount" after a fashion)
as for the koda tweets, Ive put in a pair of those into a sedan hybrid, plenty of space. but no lip. so good luck on that one. measure twice, cut once, its an odd diameter at the surface.
as for pics of my a-pillar ,its not representative. my a-pillar is carpeted, and my tweeter cup is about 1-2 mm wider than the flat surface of the pillar (without carpet) so it wont look anything like what you would end up with.
