Subs

What u guys think would sound better. I'm planning on getting 2 JL-Audio W3V2's. I was wondering what u think would be better for quailty of sound and some bass. i don't want so much bass that u can't hear what the people are saying of music. Also i was wondering, would it be possible to power both of these subs with 1 500/1 amp from JL?

The subs are only half the equation. If you want vocals to be heard, get a good pair of speakers up front on an amp. Even a nice set of coaxials on a small amp (50x2 or so) will be able to keep up w/ most any sub you get.

Then get the subs. I think the JL W3's are great subs. I have a pair in my truck and am very happy w/ them.

Yep, if you run subs with stock front staging even if its a little bit of bass it will over run the fronts. If you amp a sub, amp your fronts/rears if you do rears. And actually the JL rep told me (when I was working in the field)that the w3's of 2003 and up are better than the w6's.

I wouldn't go that far.. the W6s are awesome subs. I just sold my W3v2s because I'm getting W6s. But anyways, yes the W3s are very good subs. I hit 144 with 250 watts.. yes believe it or not.. 144 on 250 REAL watts (the amps were rated 600). That's why I don't understand the people who are running 1000 watts+ are hitting in the low 140s. Anyways in answer to your question, the W3s are great.. if you're not looking for a **** ton of bass, maybe look at the new W1s. They are very clean sounding and a little bit cheaper on the pocket.

Watts is a logarithmic scale. In theory every double of power gets you another 3db. So if you do 144 on 250 watts, expect 147 on 500 watts, and 150 on 1000 watts.
