another amp question
i have a alpine 4/3/2 channel amp
MAX POWER (EIAJ)
* 90W x 4 (4 Ohm Stereo)
* 240 x 1 (Bridged 4 Ohm)
FEATURES
* RMS Continuous Power (Watt) (at 12.0V 20-20kHz): 4 Ohm Stereo (0.08% THD) 30W x 4; 2 Ohm Stereo (0.3% THD) 40W x 4; Bridged 4 Ohm (0.3% THD) 80W x 2
* S/N Ratio 100dBA
* 12dB HP/LP Crossover (50-200Hz)
* Speaker Level Input
GENERAL
* 2/1 Channel Operation
* Bass Engine Ready
* Extra Large Gold Plated Terminals with Wire Insert Capability
* Top Panel LED
* 4 Volt Input Capability
* Continuously Adjustable Crossovers
* DC Straight, STAR Topology & Duo-Beta Circuitry
* DC-DC/PWM MOSFET Power Supply
and i need to know if this can handle 3 12s or if it will soung real crapy.
thanks

That's not a bad amp, but for you use, it really won't work very well. that amp would be adequate for interior speaker use, not for subs, especially not three. The 240x1@ 4 ohm really gives it away for me. it loks liek it would possibly power one 12, but with teh subs, assuming you wired them to 4 ohms would only get abotu 80 watts each.. which is not much. I would reccomend gettign one of teh larger monoblock amplofiers that put out close to 1000 watts, depending ont he sub. You didn't specify what sub or ohm voice coil they were. I woudl save that amp for the interior speakers and get another one for the 3 subs.

i know its better for the interior speakers, but i have no $$$ and i already have the 4 ch amp soooooo what im really asking is if it will hit well enough on 3 12s to impress the local ohio bimbo.
will it sound at all decent? or will it sound like total sh*t
thanks

i have a 2 channel amp that puts out 80 x 2 RMS pushing 2 sony xlods... i got the amp and subs for only $200 and i think it bumps pretty good. its half as loud as my friend's 1000(peak) watt ppi amp with 2 12w3's, which cost him around $1000. but ya that should get some people turning their heads. its not going to sound crappy, it's just not going to be really loud.
Maybe if he pushes 2 subs, but i don't know how you'd wire it to mono or how to get it to 3 subs. Silll, the 80x2 @ 4 ohm is RMS and that doesn't sound liek it'll power 3 subs very well.

the problem i have is that i have this killer box that was made for 3 12s and custom built for a 2k1 civic.
and the only amp i have is the alpine one, and i have absolutly no $$$.
so its either go this way, or do nothing at all, cause i dont have money for anything
all im looking for is decent bass and killer looks, so please let me know
thanks

what kind of subs are they? cause ya some subs require atleast 70 RMS. if it does then i'd say you just power the left and right one n just leave the middle one for show. if it's a sealed box then the middle should still move a lil and make it seem like it's being powered.
