Hey ,
as some of you konw, I got my car broken into and my face plate stolen on valentines day.
they must have been pretty amature thieves cause they left the actual cd player in the car and only took the face plate.
it was my good ol' alpine 7893 and it kicked ***.
anyway so i have a cd player, but no face plate
is this thing worth anything to me or what are my options??

well, best buy sells cd player without the face (stolen faces) for about $50, but thats brand new.
if you contact Alpine i'm sure you can get a replacement.

oh yeah, i currently have the 7893 in my car, and i agree, it kicks ****. lol

as far as i know, faceplates can be pretty expensive. my friend lost his faceplate for his pioneer and could not find it after looking for 2 weeks, so he checked ebay for a face, no luck.

then he called pioneer and they wanted 175 for a new face. so he just bought the same deck (on ebay for like 165 shipped) and put the old deck in his truck, and he takes the faceplate to whichever car hes gonna drive.

If you cant find any faceplates online, just buy a new alpine (i have the 9831 and i love it).

the faceplate will probably cost you the same or more than buying a whole new unit. They do nt sell the faceplates for cheap because they think you stole it.

well that face plate in the link right now is pretty cheap, so if i can get that, and it would work then that would be pretty tight

i foudn a remanufactured one for 60 bucks, but im not sure that its worth it to get that

i ended up buying a refurbished face plate from http://www.pacparts.com
it was a bit expensive compared to ebay (cost me about 70 bucks after shipping) but i still think im quite fortunate to get an insurance check for my alpine deck, plus getting the cd player. so its like i just got 430$ for free.
yes there was a hastle not haveing a car for a while, but whatever, i didnt get tottaly screwed

just sent an email to cancel my order from pcparts or whatever its called, they have not yet shipped the item so hopefully it wont be a big deal.
its just that 70 bucks seems like way too much money to be spending on that faceplate,
so im bidding on ebay *currently the high bidder at six bucks* im thinking that this will stay relativly low, so as long as the total is less than 70 bucks im happy!

but the thieves only took the faceplate not the actuall cd player..

yes that would be ironic, but look at it this way...
insurance gave me 500 bucks cause my deck got stolen, even tho it was just the face plate...
and with that 500 i was able to replace the face plate, buy neuspeed race springs, front and rear camber kit, AND a compustar ws9000fm-as alarm


hahaha, stupid thieves gave me a shitload of goodies
and all they got was a worthless faceplate

but yea, i got a horrible deductable on my homeowners insurance!
the thieves also stole my skateboard and it was a really Fvcking nice one that i had a lot of good parts on, but my deductable was 1000$...
