I like putting them in the back like that, but only if they will be exposed. too much wire otherwise.

easy to cram them into the kickpanel area, or hidden up under the underdash.

you can also cut out a touch of that foam inside your doorpanel and put the crossover on top of that. this will save you the trouble of running additional wires through your door. assuming you put your tweets into the door, that is.

i shaved off the stryofoam/yellow foam chunks just enough to fit the crossover for fronts. been few months now and no problems at all. like the stryofoam does much anyways.

the spot where you remove your door panel and that block of yellow foam... thats where i shaved off like 3-4" of.

dont have alpines but they were 6.5" and didnt fit without spacer so i just cut up some wood in circle shape and just used it as spacer. that was no prob either.

goodluck

I put mine in the trunk.. it's kind of a lot of wire to run though but when the whole car is apart, what's the difference?

I ziptied mine inside the door on the wiring harness right above the speaker. It just rained yesterday and i checked last night when it wasnt raining to see if it got wet and no water on it. And i got the Alpine sps-171a's just put them in last weekend.

right now my x-overs are inside the door panel zip tied inplace but when I place the new kicker SSMB6 components in i'm glassing the door panel pocket to have it mounted in along with the new 6" so it will be exposed for view or maybe behind some plexi.

if ur just trying to hide it put them behind the door panel. thats what i did. I used a backstrap and wrapped it around the crossover and screwed the backstrap to the metal on the door and velcroed the crossover to the backstrap. U dont see it and it doesnt bounce around or anything like that. I have Diamond Audios 6.5" components $450

I have allways mounted them in the car never the door, you've got to remember that you open and close your door how many times a day + moisture is allways a factor, inside allways a safer cleaner install.

It there any negative effect from mounting the crossovers in the trunk as far as sound quality or loss of power, etc.?

Well I have Alpine Type-X and my crossovers are in the Trunk.....If you want to keep them in the door, well, I used to wrap them in plastic and tape them up in order for them not to get wet, and hot glue or double side tape them to the bottom of the door where their out of the way.
