Speed sensing autodoor locks?
Speed sensing autodoor locks?
I've just bought a new 2005 Civic Sedan. I love the car, but one thing I'm missing from my older car was the feature that automatically locked all the doors once the car hit a certain speed (15mph on my old car IIR). Does anyone know if there is a way to get this feature on the Civic, either through some aftermarket modification/kits or some factory settings, or something? I appreciate any help.
my 2001 that I used to own did it when I started the car but my 2005 doesn't do it. I can't remember if it was the alarm that did it on my 2001 or if the car was just like that.

all u have to do is lock the driver side lock and all the doors lock...if u dont want to hit the power lock button. I usally rest my arm there on the door so it locks it all the time.
It works the same way if u lock or unlock the door with your key. I do beileve if u turn it in and goe counterclock wise it will lock or unlock all the doors. If for some reason your keypad doesnt work.

I'm sure if you're a major electrical guru, you could design a circuit that tapped into the VSS so it will lock the doors.. but it'd be way more work than what it would be worth.

wow are we that lazy that you can't hit a simple lock switch ??? Just hit the darn switch, and it'll lock your doors. Better yet, just hit the lock button on the keyless remote after you start your car.

I know many alarms have this feature, but does anyone know of a device or somethat that just does this?

Ever heard of BASIC stamp circuits? You can program a small battery powered circuit using BASIC so that when your ignition transitions to the ON position and some threshold of voltage is exceeded (a certain speed as measured by some sensor somewhere), a signal is sent to the door locks to lock and the program ends until the next engine start.
Just throwing out an idea. It's still not too practical. I'm scared of automatic locking doors myself, just increases the chance of me locking myself out of my car.

my doors lock after like 4 seconds of my car being on...i hate it, because even though the honda drivers side doors wont lock all the way with the door open, sometimes i get in the car and start it to warm it with the door open, it locks it, but not all the way, and i get locked out after i shut the door.
