I was thinking of buying those foam cups, putting a back wave distortion pad at the bottom, and slipping it over the speaker. Would it make them sound better?

I've been thinking about doing that as well, well, for the front guys mostly. I don't do much with the rears, but I hear you can get those foamy things, and even fiberglass them, and they'll get stiff.

i hear that can help with bass response sometimes. where are you going to get them at, i'd give them a try up front for sure.

edit..hmm, i was googling a little:
http://www.caraudioforum.com/vbb3/ar.../t-210732.html

Crutchfield says "Waterproof foam baffles fit behind your speakers to keep them clean and dry, and to improve your bass response. They compress easily to fit the installation area. "

www.partsexpress.com has all the parts. I already put that dynxorb stuff behind the door speakers to reduce distortion and it helped alot. Just looking to do the same to the rear. The dynxorb wouldn't really work for the rear. That's why I was looking at those circle things that can be held in the cups.

Bires is an unknown quantity at this point
Idoubt that will do much. Any back waves will be fired into your trunk carpet or carpet/wood on your sub box. Both things tend to suck up vibrations pretty well.

Also, did you remove your trunk springs? If not, you would have to.

rear speakers suck. i disconnected mine and only use front components. for some reason in our cars it sounds so unbalanced. this is using subs for bass of course.
