Question Radar/ Laser Scrambler

How do wire the power cord so that the radar/ laser scrambler or detecter goes on when you turn your car on? So, instead of using the power outlet, wire it directly into the vehicle inginition. Does anyone know how to do this?

Most radar detectors will have a hardwire kit available. If you dont use a kit to do it, chances are you are going to have to cut apart your power cord that came with it, figure out which is + and - and then tap a + source that is switched with the ignition. You could tap the cig lighter power, that is most likely the easiest one to access.

I think you could wire it to the dome light, and have it come on with the slide of selector switch. I have it that way in my non-7thgencivic. Just a theory for now, until I actually attempt it in my g/f's 03 EX.

Uhm...wouldent that make it so the radar detector is only on if your dome light is on?

You could go buy a switch, not use the one from the dome light.

That would be so ghetto...why not just use a relay thats tripped with an ignition wire. That way it will turn on with the car, and if you want it off, you can use the power switch on the detector.
