I use the Ai-Net input cable to feed XM through that same head unit. It was way cheaper than the direct tuner assembly. The sound quality is perfectly fine. Just remember to enable the AUX mode in the head unit if it isn't already.

hmm interesting....so w/ this cable i DON'T need that alpine box thingy.
but where do i plug the red/white ends in?
get an adapter at radio shack or something that goes from mini-jack to RCA...I use my 2nd gen iPod with my 9835 with that Ai-Net RCA adapter cause my iPod doesnt work with the tuner box
for listening only - meaning you won't "see" or control the iPod from the the hu - all you will need is the Ai-Net cable and an RCA to 3.5mm conversion cable to connect to the iPod.
The module provides charging and the ability to control the iPod from the HU - As Alpine indicates, only newer decks support it.

1 last question.....i have asystem....can i still adjust the x-cross, bass, ect, ect, u know mess around w/ the features that my alpine has.
there are two things you'll need to do - enable the auxiliary input from the function menu on the hu (it's disabled by default) and then make sure the bypass switch underside the deck is turned off (I think...can't remember the setting) so that it knows to use your amps. Once that's done it responds just like any other source.
you have to figure out where to PUT the ipod itself. My '01 has crappy space management. I originally had it inside the square tray below the emergency brake, but the cable management didn't work well for the iPod remote. I ended up buying a radio shack $10.00 cell phone mounting kit that I bolted down. This lets me position it so that I can see it while driving and gives it a secure place to sit.

what you're seeing is that I have both a JVC Sirius Tuner and an iPod. With only on AUX input, I have to share the connection between the two. The black wire you see tucks into the side of the console shroud, it's the RCA to 3.5mm conversion cable.
YES there are ways of generating multiple AUX inputs with newer Alpine decks but the costs mount......
I have the iPod remote coiled around the base for touch controls that are easier to feel than the iPod itself...
