kick panel aiming
kick panel aiming
For those who have made their own kick panels for any year civic, what point in your car are you kicks aimed at? I am trying to get a general location to start and tweek to get imaging perfect. In my previous set of kicks that I made, I aimed both to the same spot slightly in front of the dome light. The imaging is nice and centered if I move my head back to the headrest, but it's not so good when my head is in it's natural position (not too far from the head rest). The stage is also higher and less localizable to the kick areas when I sit a little lower. I guess I'll try aiming a little forward this time. This has got to be the most painstakingly annoying part of the kick panel construction process. But I guess once it's done, you're in heaven.
CDT recommended aiming in the sunroof dome light area, between the headrest and in front of you. I guess I got the in front of you part wrong. That's probably why it sounds better when I move my head a little back and down.

buddy of mine had the drivers side facing the center console, and the passenger side facing the firewall. imaging was perfect. so your speakers may not even need to be pinted at the same spot!
ever car is different, including mine from yours. my legs and steering wheel are in a different spot than yours, so every every every car is different.
happy tuning! I suggest playing with it til lits centered with a good horizon and no rainbow effect. everything else I figure is easy to tune in. audionutz suggests playing with speaker facing till the center comes into focus, regardless of height or anything else. He must be a better tuner than I am.
good luck!

^^My thought exactly. I have my passenger side kick facing towards the cupholders and the driver's side facing the shifter.. a little off but when I sit in my car, it sounds perfect.
