Amp advice?
here is what i have...
- Alpine 9831
- Front 6.5" Infinity Speakers 50W
- Rear 6.5" MB Quart PCE 164 Midbass driver 60W
The MB quarts actually drive good bass but i am curious to know how much better it would sound with a entry level 4 channel amp?
I am content the way it sounds now but am not wowed by it. When i crank the volume the bass is not distorted but the general sound begins to be fuzzy. If i add a amp will i just be able to pump it louder or will the sound quality increase as well.
its either leave it the way it is or add an ALPINE MRP-F240.
Advice/comments appreciated.

i never amped my speakers before but i believe when u amp the speakers, the "bass" wont be their because its being amped for clearity/purify your speaker sound quality overall. for sure that fuzzy sound wont be heard when amping the car speakers.
as for that alpine amp, im guessing its 65w to each speaker? thats well enough imo. 50w to each speaker can do just fine cause i really dont know anyone who maxes out their speakers that are amped cause i know for sure my hears will start to hurt lol.

I have that same alpine amp F240 now powering four infinity reference 6.5 speakers. Sound quality is amazing for how cheap they are. And yes the bass bumps hard depending on the music. I can turn it up enough on some songs to shake the mirror. They don't play any low bass tho.
The amp is 40wrms x 4 at 14v. So prolly closer to 30wrms per channel. Still alot more power than the deck gives.

what would be the ideal amp to get the full use of the 4 speakers i have? the fronts are 50w and the rears are 60w. I cant stress enough the extra bass provided by the Bass Driver system sperakers by mb quart! it sounds like a component speaker and 6.5" subwoofer in one!
Should i get a true 50WX4 Amp? if so, which would you recommend?

hmm alpine has always been good. It's been working for years and survived a recent collision. If you really want the best amp, try and get it as close to the rms watts as the speaker has. But even the small amp will make a difference. You can turn it up louder without distortion.

Yeh I think i will get the the alpine MRP-F240. It seems like it does the job and i need a low maint amp. Meaning, when i do fold down the split seats, I can still use the added space to put things on top of the amp to some extent, and not worry about scratching it or breaking it.
I am not looking to win any audio competitions, i just want clean great sounding audio from what i got.
I can get them on ebay for $140 new.
thanks again.

Nope. I had a sub in my 350z and its just too much for a daily driver. I want to keep my Em2 nice and clean. the sub is going to take away some utility of my car too.
But thanks for the suggestion.

get the alpine amp, thats what i have running alpine type r 6.5's and tweets in front and type s 6 by 9's in the rear. sound quality is great and the bass is clear and crisp. mind you it wont give you the bass of a sub but it still sounds nice.
