Class D

I have a single kicker 12 L7 and I want a new amp.The one I have now puts out 946 at 2 ohm but it is an AB amp.Where I live in Fresno my current amp sucks in the summer time,it likes to overheat when its above 90 degrees.I think a cladd D would help plus my old Rockford amp that blew out never overheated. What is a good brand.I am thinking about the new Rockford Fosgate T10001bd.I hear their underrated and they usually put out a couple hundred more watts than rated. What do you think?

I wouldn't say a couple more hundred watts, but it sure pumps out the power they claim. Here's a few amps that I would suggest you look into:
HiFonics BX1500D
Orion 1200D

A/B amps aren't bad amps, they're just increibly inefficient, for the most part. What made you want a digital amp? Just curious.

BTW, I have a JL 500/1 if you're interested.

Class D Amps aren't horrible either. They're generally smaller in size, they're more efficient, and in your case which is what you want, they run cooler. However, Orions are definitely good amps and I would definitely look into them.

Orion used to be one of the top brands back in the mid to late 90s. Now they are ownd by DEI and I personally wouldn't buy their products.

Definitely Hifonics Brutus BX1500D. They pack a BIG punch and can be used to power any subs. The newer series came out the BX2200 (2200x1) and the 1800 (1800x1). Hifonics baby!

As far as Ikesound, I read they're fine as long as you don't have to return/excnange anything, then they're not as good.

My MTX 801D puts down about 775 watts respectably and I've had no problems with overheating. Been a great amp overall!!!
