installing speakers is a beatch

i got a 2005 civic ex-se, bought kappa 6x9 and component set, got the back in, but had to take out the torsion bars, then i get to the front, and it doesn't fit. I gotta now have a guy cut out the sheet metal on the door so i can get the speakers in there, what a pain. Why can't honda make it easier to replace speakers, damn honda.

I built 'glass spacers for the rear deck and built 'glass kickpanels for the front. Without build time, installation was about half hour total total for both front and rear. (it takes about 15 minutes to take out and reinstall the rear deck)

i agree man, changing the speakers in our cars is a bitch. my dad has a 2000 Odyssey and the little mesh grills that cover the speakers just pop out w/ a screwdriver and you can just unscrew the speakers from there - it's sooo much better! I wish they would have done it that way in civics

I rather enjoyed changing the fronts in my 04. In fact, when I learned I had to cut the metal AND make mdf spacers, I was stoaked. I guess that's really the difference between likeing to listen to car audio and just plain likeing car audio. Anyway, check out the DIY, it'll help you and you've got any other questions post em up, I won't flame you dude. Good luck.

I'm having this problem also. I want to install some CDT ef-61cf's but, like others, cant fit them in. Cutting out some sheet metal seems to be the best choice but im not sure how i should go about doing that. Can i do that myself? What tools would i need?

Assuming i successfully cut the sheet metal, is 1" MDF the best size to use for the baffle?
