Low Pass Filter

Hey everyone, sorry if this is posted already but I couldnt really find my answer..

I want to know what the best frequency to set the filter at on my amp and on my deck..
First off, my deck allows me to choose between 120hz and 80hz (whats better?)
and my amplifer allows me to tune it from 40hz to 400hz.. When i play with the **** on my amp, it gets louder as i increase the frequency but i dont know if its good or not? If anyone has any preferences as to what to set these to.. please let me hear it! thanks a lot!

EDIT: this is a subwoofer amp connected to two 12s in sealed enclosure

mdb_foxmx is an unknown quantity at this point
A good place for the subwoofer low-pass crossover point is around 80Hz. If you do a search for musical instrument frequencies, 80Hz is right around the middle of the range for a bass guitar. A bass drum is even lower. As for the deck's crossovers, I don't know how you're powering the front and rear speakers, but I'd say set the high-pass for 80Hz. Then you cover the whole band anyway. It, of course, is always better if you can seperate the frequencies for each speaker.

Just remember there is no need to have 2 crossovers, chose one or the other. 80hz is a frequency to leave it at but the best thing to do is look at the specs of your subs and set it to the recomended frequency.

Jeff B has a little shameless behaviour in the past
I use the one on my deck only because it has the high and low pass. prob should use the amp one and just disable the one on the deck...

darklegacy540 is on a distinguished road
I have mine on my amplifiers set at 60 Hz and I've never blown a sub.. as far as high pass goes, 80 Hz is a good setting depending on your components/coaxals
