Installing an AMP?
Installing an AMP?
I have my subs hooked up to the AMP. AMP is in the trunk but I have a 2003 Honda Civic DX sedan. Battery is on the passenger side. I asked a couple people and am getting different responses. Should I run the power wire along the driver side through the firewall, ziptie to the firewall then to the battery? Or should I run it along the passenger side through the firewall to the battery?
P.S.- Haven't drilled the hole in the firewall yet.

doesn't matter where you run it...just keep your power cable and remote wire away from your RCA signal cables (run them on opposite sides of the vehicle) to avoid any interference...and look harder for a hole in the firewall...there should already be a few spots that just have black rubber plugs in them...i know the one in my car is on the driver's side about halfway down the firewall...anyway, hope this helps...good luck!

Yeah, most people go down the passenger side with power because of several things:
1. Battery is on that side of vehicle.
2. There's a grommet in the passenger floorboard.
3. Saves on wire, thus saving money.
Personally, I ran mine down the center, because power wire is cheaper than rca's, and I figured that the moving parts there might make it succeptable to knicking, or pinching, so I ran the power through there cause it's cheaper. Regardless, there are several gromment in the firewall, one on each side.

I only see one hole and there are already some wires going through there. I tried getting the power wire through but it seems to be too big with the other wires going through already.
Is the hole on the actual floorboard or is it up near the firewall. I found 3 holes. One in the middle, one on the passenger side and one on the drivers side. Is there another one somewhere else?
It's not quite in the floor, more on the firewall. If you look at the passenger side footwell, take of the top plastic thing and dig around, you should see a rubber grommet, you might need to carefully slice the rubber a little to get it through, it should be more than big enough to fit.

Here's some pics of what it looked like before I put the wire through it:
It's all the way in the left of this pic.
Here's a closeup.
I just did mine a week ago myself and there are 2 on the passenger side. One is higher and comes out behind the glovebox(hard to spot in the engine bay) then the other is down lower(easy to spot if you have an intake) the lower one is much easyer to run it thought and it comes out right near the floor vent.
It looks like you spotted it there but I cant tell from those pictures for sure.

Spray some lube on it (WD40, silicone, whatever, something to make it slick) and push it through the one with the wires, or the one that has nothing (after cutting it of course). The lub makes it easier to push it through. I usually use a coat hanger to zip tie it to, just cause they're easy to find.
Can the power wire going from the HU to the amplifiers cause interference with the RCAs if it is too close? I never thought it could since there isn't much power. I have the power wires and RCAs on different sides of my car, but the remote wire is on the same side with the RCAs.

also when i connect the sub to the amp, i need to bridge them, how do i do that
noob
i got a alpine 7875, its got sh*tloads of wires running from the back, preety trippy cuz i dunt know wut to do with them, dech has 3 sub preouts, so i guess thats wut it is but i have no idea wut to do with them, i guess i am gonna have to go to installer
I finally got my amp and subs installed. The only thing I was having problems with was running the 4 guage wire through the firewall. Here is what I did. First of all I grounded my amp on a bolt right behind the rear passenger seats, then after that I ran my power wire along the passenger (right) side of the car. If you remove the panels it hides the wire a whole lot better than trying to place it under the carpet. After you get up to the Firewall, you are going to have to pull the carpet back to get to the opening. The hole you need to go through is right under the glovebox on the firewall. The way I got it through was to attach a lug or a ring terminal to the end of the wire, then I got a hanger and straightened it out. From the engine bay, it should be fairly easy to see the hole in the firewall. If not, it is down low on the passenger side with wires coming from it. Stick the straightened out hanger through the firewall from the engine in to the cabin. Attach the coat hanger to the ring terminal on the wire. Make sure you get some thing to lube the wire down so it will slide through. I didn't have anything so I used conditioner (not only will it shine your hair but also has many other uses too). Pull the wire through, clean your wire and attach to your battery. That should be it. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.
