Yes on specs the Type-R's are 300 rms. In practice, give em 500-600 RMS and then you'll make them move to their potential. No I'm not just a stupid kid pushing these subs beyond their limits. I've done plenty of research, here's proof (these are onlyr ecent threads that I found, trust me, plenty of people run these subs with 500+ RMS to each.

"Yeah, I have 2 1241D's powered by 2 MRD-M300s running at a 2-ohm load. They are way ****in more than 300 watts bro. They supposedly max at 600W each, but when I turn them up, it's way more bass than any crazy person would want. If you buy a little remote bass controller, like I have, you can synchronize the gain on the amps, which is quite nice."

I personally run 2 of these subs with a Hifonics Bx1000d

^That's WTF I am talking about.

Well as the guy in the quote implies those subs will work fine with the MRD-M300 amp. Alpine makes high quality amps so I think you're getting a good deal and you'll be happy with the setup. It's just that the subs are able to go further than the amount of power that amp will supply.
Personally for these questions I recommend asking at caraudioforum.com or at one of the two that I linked above. I mean it never hurts to ask.
Good luck.

The max might be at 600 but its not recommended to amp them over 300.... when a company gives you the rms, stick with that so you can have your speaker for 2 years or more rather than a week...

well I had them for more over 7 months now, running fine. If you still don't believe it thats fine, but I rather trust people in a primary car audio forum. It's not like anyone dissagreed or even hinted any doubt in those threads. Plus, as I said, there were so many more threads that I cannot find anymore (probably too old for the databases) that sai dbasically the same thing.
I did my hoemwork when buying my setup. If you still want to stick to your opinion that's fine, but the topic starter should know what many other users know.

im a member of sounddomain's forum, so I could post about the subs there too, does that mean my post on sounddomain.com means more to you then my post here?

I have 2 type R 12s, I only run 600rms, 300 to each, so I dont know about overpowering them.. according to alpine's website specs, but they're loud enuf @ their listed rms for me.

im neutral on this.

Jeff B has a little shameless behaviour in the past
Thumbs up

MRD-501 is a great amp. I have one myself and its got so many settings I dont even know how to use them all. Though it's are rated at 550rms it will put out almost 600 on a bench test.
