Phoenix Gold Tantrum 1200.1 on Ebay
Phoenix Gold Tantrum 1200.1 on Ebay
I've seen members looking for this amp and I just found one on Ebay. The seller is sld67 and the amp is going for $225 in auction or $300 buy it now.
$300 is on the high end for an Ebay'd Tantrum. They generally seem to end under $300, judging by the completed auctions.
And in case anyone else is interested, there are two other Tantrum 1200.1s on Ebay at the moment. And there seem to be at least a couple at any time...

quality is still very good
I actually just bought a Tantrum 1200.1 that I have to go pick up.
The catch? I have to drive across the border because I don't want it to get stuck in customs and I am too sick and will be too sick for a while to go and get it

This thread reminds me of an auction i saw a few days ago that was full of false truths amd exagerations. Just for kicks, here it is:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WDVW
newest amp made? its discontinued...
$1000+ new? $750-800 maaaaaybe...
I found it funny

Phoenix Gold is still very high quality.. Just as an example, the heat sinks inside a Phoenix Gold amp are about twice the size of the heat sinks inside a Rockford amp.. One of my electronics teachers in college used to work for PG and he showed us the size difference and it was just an day/night difference between the thermal exhaust. it's just you haven't heard much about PG lately just because they spend so much money on their products.. I remember my teacher saying that PG spent about $200 to make each amp because the parts they used were so expensive whereas Rockford only spends about $100 or so per amp if I remember correctly..
