I need to take the cap out of my system. I did a search and I am too lazy to read through the 300+ capacitor threads.

I forgot how to dischage my cap, so can someone give me the run down on how to do it? thx

I use a test light

Quick way is to turn your amp on to brig the voltage down quickly then test with a test light and/or multimeter to make sure it is all empty

Unplug the cap from the charging system of your car. Then ground your test light to the neg terminal and touch the pos terminal til the light goes dim.

yeah take out the fuse or manually trip your breaker and put the test light across the terminals on the cap

basically unplug the power from it and then put a load on it to drain the charge

yeah, just connect a light bulb to the two terminals on the cap, or, just lick both sides at once.

Easiest way is to touch the 2 terminals together with a piece of metal, it'll create a spark and be discharged. Wear rubber gloves

Probably easier for some people to find their test-light than to come across a pair of rubber gloves though

SO, you could use your *****, your tongue or rubber suit, OR you could just use the Friggin test light! LOL

If you are gonna use your tongue or your *****, I'd suggest making sure the coast is clear. If you are seen doing that, you'll never talk your way out of it
