My newest quesion about speakers and baffles

SO, ive been doing my reading as much as i can from those sites at top the forum. ive come across some confusing material again. i know subs need boxes to provide air to push the cones. i know the box needs to be air tight for best results. are regular speakers this way too? do my door speakers need a baffle, specific air space? would it help? should i be trying to seal my speaker in the door as air tight as possible? i know there are many diff types of speakers, 4" 6" tweet, 6x9, 51/4 etc etc. whcih ones need air space whcih need tight air space etc? thanks for all the information by the wya.

i think it depends on the speaker. subs and drivers need an enclosure like you said but the other speakers in your car do not. they are only there to produce mids and highs.

they are not needed...you can build an enclosure for it but 99% of the time its not necessary. just make sure there are no gaps around where the speaker is mounted.

so it does matter that there is an air tight seal, but an actual baffle wont help. so how come kick panels are totally enclosed?

the kicks are totally enclosed because they are typically used in upper level systems where the enclosure is there for the midbass, very much like a subwoofer. the enclosure that its in makes a big difference in the way a speaker sounds (to me at least) especially a component sets midbass driver (which is what is typically mounted in a kick) your average everyday person wont really be able to tell the difference of an infinite baffle setup (what is in the civics from the factory) which still sounds ok as long as the back waves of the speaker dont meet up with the front waves too close to the cone, and an enclosed midbass except for a little volume difference in the 200Hz to 500Hz range. wow I think I just confused myself.

my kick panels aren't totally enclosed. but then again, i don't use them for mid bass, just mids and highs...

Is it poss? what do you mean by that? its possible to put anything in kicks. you might get some interference where you put your feet put you could "fit" a 10" sub in there if you designed them that way. Quart 216s are less of a space-hog than a lot of speakers that ppl here have in the KPs.
If I may be so inclined to answer for HondaSales, I beleive he's got Focal Utopias in there (one of the best).

HondaSales, you make those yourself or have em made? If you had em made, where, how much. I reallly really dig those kicks. You got a pic of the other side, bro?
