New HU Install Problem, Please Advise!
Today my friend and I tried to install a headunit that was given to me from my cousin. An Aiwa CDC-... something or other, it's kinda old. Anyway, I bought a connector kit from Wal-Mart which was like $6, 14-16g connectors, and my friend had a crimping tool so we set to it.
We knew how to open the console and stuff, so then we check to see if the connector we bought was the right one, and it was, I think 20-pin? So anyway, we connect everything together and then we test it out. We reconnect the battery, start the car and yay! The headunit turns on, but, wtf, there's no sound! We checked the wires, everything was connected... Then we took the new one out and put the stock one back in, and the stock one's working. So it must be something with the new unit or the wiring connector.
We remove the connectors and just try putting the wires together to see if they're working at all, and they're not. So I just say, the hell with it, and put it away.
THEN, I reconnect my stock headunit, reconnect the battery, turn on the car, and the stock one doesn't turn on.... I was so frustrated because the new one didn't work and now this had to happen, the stock one doesn't work either. I disconnected and reconnected the battery but that doesn't work. I can put CD's into and remove them from the stock headunit.
Guys this is a real dilemma I can't live without music... I would really appreciate if I could receive any feedback at all on what may have gone wrong with the new one and how I can fix the stock one? =X

Go to circuit city or best buy and get the exact connector for our cars.
Then replace the fuses that you fried, then you should be set. There are two. One for accessory and one for constant. Realize there are two fuse panels, one under the hood, one under the dash.
Do a search on power antenna wire to get good reception and you should be set.

It's not getting power at all... But before, when I switched it back to test if it was working, it prompted for the code, everything worked. Now it doesn't... frustrating.
I'm gonna check the fuses but, does anyone what was wrong with the speakers on the new system?
[edit]
The connecter I bought from Wal-Mart was by Scosche (sp?) and it said for Hondas '86-Up.
And one more thing... for the connectors, when we were done crimping them, my friend said to apply heat and so we toasted them with a lighter. Is this right? A lot of them started burning...

Sorry for the bump but, would it be possible that I need this?
Scosche OEM Amplifier Adapter
The friend that helped me found a thread in a MustangWorld.com forum and someone said that the headunit would work but the speakers wouldn't unless I got this amplifier adapter. Does anyone know anything about this? I'd really like to know what's going on and how to just have the damn thing installed.
It says it's for high-powered aftermarket systems, is the Aiwa really high-powered? Please help!
Thanks,
Zee

No you don't need an adapter like that, that would be to interface with a stock amplifer that some cars have, although our Civics don't.
Probably the problem with your stock deck is a fuse, check em all and you should find the problem.
As with the Aiwa, who knows what kind of condition it was in, maybe the internal amplifier doesnt work..
