tuning pro?
ok here's the question. is there somewhere i can go that can help me out with tuning my system? either an audio shop or poss. a pro in the "university of delaware" area. i love my system but i really want someone to teach me and help me out with all the tech. tuning controls on my amp and headunit. every time i adjust something i like it better and better but i have no idea what it is actually doing. i feel that it can be so much more tuned.
I need some help with sound stage, proper highs and lows, amp controls including freq. and gain adjustments, and also all the very confusing kenwood controls in my head unit
also if you have an idea where i can get this done, how much would something like this cost me?
Thanks guys/girls

You could have a shop tune for you but unless you bought the stuff there and they are above average in the customer service dept, they aren't going to teach you anything. Which is not really that big a deal. Once you get your system tuned, you won't have to keep tuning it anyway. Just lock the settings and put it away. If its headunit tuning, you can just write down the setting in case you lose your memory. Don't know about shops in your area but around here they'll charge around $60-120 depending on the complexity of the tuning. You should go somewhere really professional though, a small shop with a great name in the industry - avoid circuit city and bestbuy. If you wanna learn stick around here and ask questions like you just did. Also, start with that absolutlely kick-*** section of audio links that LudlamTheory has provided in the sticky thread at the top of the forum. Read through those and you'll start to learn. I can almost smell the cooking brain cells already. Good luck with that system of yours, tuning makes all the difference in the world! INstall, tuning, then components.
the best car audio tuner in this area is Bill at Sounds Impossible in Highlands, NJ. one of the cars he built and tuned took first place at the nationals 2 years ago. he's expensive though...
i called sounds impossible and they said there is nothing they can do b/c i don't have an eq in my car. i told who ever picked up the phone that my head unit has a lot of controls and so does my amp. he said they really can't help me out.
i feel like the guy i spoke with had no idea what he was talking about

does anyone out there know the eq controls on the kenwood kdc-x869 face well? there is so much stuff on this face, i really have no clue what to do with it.
i have a really good feeling that with the proper adjustments to the eq controls i could have a really good sounding system.

oh, i didn't realize what euipment you have. yeah, there's not much you can do for tuning unless you have some type of equalizer and network system. you can't tune a car without the right components...
